Excited to share recent work with artist Dominique Excited to share recent work with artist Dominique Moody! D&W Studio completed a new addition and renovations on the NOMAD for the upcoming Made in L.A. 2023 Hammer exhibition. As recently showcased in the New York Times, “the Nomad will be parked outside the Hammer Museum as part of the sixth edition of “Made in L.A.,” a biennial spotlighting emerging and underrecognized artists living in Los Angeles.” A special thank you to our friends over at LA State Historic Park for their support in providing a temporary outdoor home for the NOMAD as we completed the work. The NOMAD is an Art Truck and Trailer Dwelling that functions as a Mobile Artist in Residence. It is a continued work in process inspired by found objects and the nomadic legacy of my family and ancestral lineage. NOMAD is an acronym for Narrative, Odyssey, Manifesting, Artistic, Dreams. Its porch becomes a welcoming space for storytelling and sharing, inspired by memories of home. #sky #nofilter: Hindsight for a Future America ope #sky #nofilter: Hindsight for a Future America opens today at 3 p.m. at the California African American Museum (@caaminla and @taylorraldridge) by conceptual artist Chloë Bass (@publicinvestigator). It was an absolute treat to work on this project, from project management to fabrication and landscaping. Thank you, CAAM and Chloë, for trusting us to help realize this amazing work! Congrats!!!! The sculpture takes the form of a participatory analemmatic sundial and consists of sixteen blue glass panels that collectively form a partial ellipse. While engaging with the sculpture, the human body functions as the gnomon—the necessary projecting element that casts its shadow onto each glass panel, determining the time of the day. Bass has engraved contemplative phrases onto each sundial panel that appear on the ground below in shadow form. Today at 3 p.m., enjoy the summer solstice, with an outdoor lecture/performance by Bass, followed by an outdoor sound bath provided by @SolandSound. #publicart #publicartca #glass #glassart #sundial #solstice #summersolstice #artfabrication @alexandergrayassociates #art #dysonwomack
